Information about Manganese Poisoning

Manganese has been known for many years to cause manganese poisoning, or manganism. Manganese poisoning is a condition that is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson's disease. Some occupations involve much higher levels of manganese exposure than others. Welders, railroad workers, miners and steel workers are particularly likely to experience manganese poisoning, as their jobs frequently involve working with or near materials containing manganese such as welding rods.
